Have been doing photography at Pollen Island, the Motu Manawa Marine Reserve, at the end of Rosebank road in preparation for the Rosebank Art Walk project I was involved with. The exhibition for this free public event is now finished, it was part of the 2013 Auckland Arts Festival. My project was called "mudworks", reflecting that I have been often working in the mud, been stuck in the mud numerous times, and the fact that to many Aucklanders this is simply the mud flat beside the northwestern motorway. Thousands of commuters drive past this location on the western motorway unaware of Pollen Island's existence, many not even realising it is an island, let alone a marine reserve. I set out on this project with a mission to create a 360 degree panorama image of the mangroves. I wanted to capture this both during the day and at night. At the same time as I was creating these pictures, I shot some natural history pictures as well. This is an on going project if you would like to see my new pictures, come back to this page or Like my facebook page; https://www.facebook.com/DarrylTorckler
